Aalto’s 406 chair is Scandinavian design at it’s finest! Designed in 1938-39, the 406 armchair features Aalto’s classic use of bent birch which has a slight recline feeling while the linen webbing molds to your body for a more personalized comfort.
The 406 Chair looks great in pairs. Use a 60 stool as a side table or footstool, to create a seating area that’s as comfortable as it is cool.
Available in your choice of natural, black, blue, white, or red linen webbing.

About Artek
The husband and wife team of Alvar and Aino Aalto are two of the four individuals that started Artek in 1935. This group of designers, artists and architects were known as innovative and experimental as well as highly skilled craftsmen. Their furniture is often described as timeless and functional while remaining beautiful and well-designed. In 1933 Alvar Aalto patented the bent wooden leg that would become the company's trademark. This L-leg was later used to produce Artek's Y-leg and X-leg, both important innovations in modern furniture design.
The Aalto 400 Tank Chair and the Aalto 60 Stool are both instantly recognizable modern furniture classics. Artek is also responsible for producing the Aalto 41 Palmio Chair and the Aalto 153 Bench. While well-known for their wooden furniture, lighting is also a prominent part of Artek's design portfolio. Two of Alvar Aalto's famous lamp designs, the Aalto a330s pendant and the Aalto a110pendant, are still in production today.
