Architect Alvar Aalto also had a distinguished career as a lamp designer. Aalto’s lamps often arose from individual construction
projects. Many models were further adapted and developed for serial production. Artek’s production includes several original Aalto lamp designs dating from 1937 to 1959. Their timelessness and ease of co-ordination makes them a versatile and lasting
feature of any interior decoration.
One of my all time favorites, the “Golden Bell” was was designed by Aalto in 1939. In 2007, Artek gave the fixture and updated “Chrome” look which gave the light a new found following. Both colors are painted white inside, which makes for a clean illumination.
